Name: | Yuume Souryuu |
---|---|
Birthdate: | Dec 22 |
From a currently unwritten fanfic called 'ReiYoku', Yuume is the main protagonist of a 'series' that takes place 100 years following the YuGiOh Duel Monster's canon. Her page is full of spoilers, but for the moment, it's important to note that aside from the fact that cards have been replaced with a much worse 'game' in her time (Namely Ka, or 'Shadows', with shadow games lacking consequence played using a device called the 'Glove'), her real name is not in fact 'Souryuu'.
It's Kaiba- her great grandfather was in fact none other than Mokuba.
------------------
IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT YUUME'S BACKSTORY--because everything on the journal is old as balls
- Yuume is at the end of her 'second season' so to speak. This means there's a rather large 'gap' in her soul, between herself and her shadow, which she pushes from herself constantly. This strained relationship is reflected in the armor she takes upon entering the minds of others for her job. With her self-loathing and escapist habits, she dons a mask and heavy, thick cloth armor, which moves without a sound.
- She's about five foot, eight inches--however she also typically wears flats, and if she's not in a crowd, or feels somehow obligated to present herself 'properly', she tends to slouch somewhat.
- The matters of her severe self-hate/selflessness stem from an event which triggered her to flee her home when she was young; when she was in middle school, she was rather rebellious. From a very young age, her great grandfather noted that she resembled his own brother considerably, and the comment led her parents to be incredibly strict in their expectations of her. So rather than sticking to classes and grounding herself in 'reality', she fled to fantasy novels and mythology, ditching when she could. Around this time she would meet 'Kimi Mutou', a young girl about her age who was constantly bed ridden. They became friends, and when a device called the 'Locksmith' appeared in their area--a device which would awaken the shadows of those who touched it--they both went to try.
What happened was an event known as 'Black Rain'. Kimi's shadow would awaken, brilliant and gold--however instead of some 'white dragon' as Yuume had hoped (Since she decided that doing so would prove herself as even 'greater' than this missing Seto Kaiba her parents wished her to be like), a great and monstrous shadow appeared. It 'devoured' everyone in sight, stealing their shadows and leaving them in a comatose state--Kimi was dragged back right before her, but rather than attempt to help, she ran. When the shadow melted into the shadows at her feet, she continued to run. When the police came to her door she ran again, hopping from the bedroom window. She ran and ran and caught a subway, going as far as she could before finally winding up stuck at some station. It's likely that she could have been forced to come home at this time, however she was instead found by a woman named 'Kira Ikou'--the woman who would take her in, and eventually hire her at her Doctor's Agency when Yuume chose the path.
- The self-loathing driven partially by the events of Black Rain, and partially by continual nightmares surrounding the fact however, are intensified by the massacre that made Black Rain's details known to the world. When Yuume finally deemed herself ready to enter the minds of the victims to awaken them, she instead came upon a room of slaughtered victims, their bodies mangled as though their beds had torn them apart; the only one missing was Kimi. Needless to say she associates the event with herself, as 'her fault', so... Yea.
- She was fourteen when she ran from home--which is actually the age at which one can live on their own in Japan. When she became a 'Doctor', she was seventeen. Currently, she's around 23 (her birthday is the Winter Solstice)
- It's ironic, but as an adult, Yuume really has grounded herself in reality, in a sense. She strives to prove the reality of shadows in history, and often her immediate thought for what some would call an 'evil spirit' is merely a renegade shadow. She reacts quite badly when it proves to not be related at all in fact, and may or may not even be a little frightened by such things.
- As Darkness caused her trauma, darkness intensifies it. Yuume is petrified of the dark--she has panic attacks and starts hyperventilating when immersed in total darkness. To that end, she carries a glowstick with her for emergencies.
-------------------
Yuume's account was exported from LJ a while off, and she has a lot of CR from both the Dressing Room there, and even a pseudo DR that was around before the current Dressing Room. Important things to note are:
- She has a relative idea of how such places work, and has gotten so in tune with explaining that it comes out without thinking. (Which as a consequence means it's easy to disbelieve)
- Yuume still has the Munna which 'Pokemon Breeder Yuusei' gave her; while it can double as an exposition device (Munna eat dreams, but are also able to display the dreams they eat), it's typically just a cuddly pink tapir. That floats.
- Speaking of Pokemon Breeder Yuusei--aside from taking part in a MAJOR thread of old, which prompted her to at least try reconciling with her shadow/ka, they're technically in a relationship. It's just that 'relationship' for Yuusei and Yuume more or less comes down to 'read books and tell the other to go to sleep until someone caves'.
